अष्टावक्र गीता - भाव पद्यानुवाद (बाईसवीं कड़ी)

                                    ग्यारहवां  अध्याय (११.१-११.४)
                                            (with English connotation)
अष्टावक्र कहते हैं :
Ashtavakra says :

भाव और अभाव विकार हैं, ये सब हैं स्वाभाविक होते|
निर्विकार आत्म जो जाने, वे सुख, शांति प्राप्त हैं होते||(११.१)

Being and non-being and changes are by nature
natural. By realising this and knowing the
indifferent  Self, one remains happy and in peace.(11.1)

सब सृष्टि का निर्माता ईश्वर, जो ज्ञानी यह जान है पाता| 
सब इच्छाओं से विहीन हो, वह आसक्ति रहित हो जाता||(११.२)

One who knows definitely that the God is creator
of the world and none else, remains un-attached
and free from all desires.(11.2)

सुख व दुःख प्रारब्ध से होते, जो ज्ञानी विश्वास ये करता|
संयम व संतुष्टि का स्वामी, इच्छा शोक रहित है रहता||(११.३)

Knowing that good times or bad times come due
to fate or previous actions, one who remains
contented and in control of senses, remains
free from desires and pain.(11.3)

सुख दुःख, जन्म मृत्यु का कारण, केवल है प्रारब्ध ही होता|   
इच्छा मुक्त, कर्म का साधक, न वह कर्मों में लिप्त है होता||(११.४)   

Pleasure and pain, life and death are because of
our destiny decided by previous acts. One, who
is free from desires while doing his acts effortlessly,
is not attached to these.(11.4)

अष्टावक्र गीता - भाव पद्यानुवाद (इक्कीसवीं कड़ी)

                                      दशम  अध्याय (१०.५-१०.८)
                                            (with English connotation)
एक, शुद्ध, चैतन्य आत्म तुम, यह संसार असत व जड़ है|
क्या इच्छा है तुम्हें जानना, न अज्ञान का जिसमें कण है||(१०.५)

You are one pure Consciousness and this world
is illusion and inert. When there is not an iota of
ignorance in you, what is there for you to
understand.(10.5)

राज्य, पुत्र, पत्नी सुख तेरे, सब जन्मों में नष्ट हुए हैं|
तेरी भी आसक्ति उन में, लेकिन फिर भी नष्ट हुए हैं||(१०.६)

Your kingdoms, wives, sons and other
belongings had destroyed in your each
previous birth, though you were attached
to them.(10.6)


कितनी भी इच्छाएं या धन, और सभी शुभ कर्मों द्वारा|
मन को शान्ति कहाँ मिलती है, माया रूपी जग के द्वारा||(१०.७)

Any amount of desires, wealth and good deeds,
will not give peace of mind in this world of illusion.(10.7)

सभी जन्म में तुमने अपने, तन, मन, वाणी से कर्म किये हैं|
अब विरक्त हो तुम उन सब से, वांछित जीवनमुक्ति लिये है||(१०.८)

In every birth you have undertaken hard and
painful activities with your body, mind and speech.
Now be detached for your desired liberation.(10.8)

अष्टावक्र गीता - भाव पद्यानुवाद (बीसवीं कड़ी)

                                      दशम  अध्याय (१०.१-१०.४)
                                            (with English connotation)
अष्टावक्र कहते हैं :
Ashtavakra says :

धन और काम अनर्थ के हेतु, त्याग करो तुम शत्रु समझ के|
तुम सब से विरक्त हो जाओ, इन दोनों का त्याग है करके||(१०.१)

Give up desires and wealth, which are your enemies.
Abandoning these two, be indifferent to everything. (10.1)

स्त्री, पुत्र, मित्र, धन दौलत, इनको क्षणिक स्वप्नवत मानो|
कुछ दिन का ही साथ है इनका, तुम केवल ये माया जानो||(१०.२)

Look at wife, son, friends and properties as
momentary dream. As these are only for a
short time with you, treat them as Maya. (10.2)

जिस जिस में आसक्ति मन की, कारण वह संसार का होता|  
वैराग्य गहन का आश्रय लेकर, इच्छा रहित सुखी है होता||(१०.३)

Wherever is your attachment, that is world. By
following this complete non-attachment, you
will be free from desires and will attain happiness. (10.3)

तृष्णा केवल बंध आत्म का, उसका नाश मोक्ष है होता|
हो करके आसक्तिरहित ही, चिर आनंद  प्राप्त है होता||(१०.४)

Desires are the bondage of Self. Moksha is
nothing but liberation from desires.
Non-attachment only may lead to permanent 
bliss. (10.4)

अष्टावक्र गीता - भाव पद्यानुवाद (उन्नीसवीं कड़ी)

                                        नवम अध्याय (९.५-९.८)
                                            (with English connotation)
महर्षि और योगी जन के हैं, अलग अलग जग में मत होते|  
कौन मनुज विमुक्त हो इससे, नहीं शान्ति को प्राप्त हैं होते||(९.५)

Observing the different opinions of sages, saints
and yogis, who will not be indifferent to these and
attain peace?

समता, विराग व युक्ति से, जिसने चैतन्य आत्म को जाना|
तारण करता है जो इस जग से, ऐसे गुरु को है सच्चा माना||

A true guru is aware of the nature consciousness,
is unattached and endowed with equanimity.
This guru will lead the world out of cycle of
life or death.(9.6)

जब विकार को तुम तत्वों के, केवल भूत मात्र देखोगे|   
मुक्त सभी बंधन से होकर, अपने स्वरुप में स्थित होगे||(९.७)

When you see the change or transformation
in elements as mere that in elements, you
would be free from all bondages and
would be established in your own nature.(9.7)

संसार सृजन इच्छाओं से है, त्याग करो इच्छाओं का तुम|
इच्छाओं का त्याग है करके, स्व-स्वरुप स्थित होगे तुम||(९.८)

Desires create the world and, therefore, you
get rid of desires. By renunciation of desires,
you would be established in your own nature.(9.8)

अष्टावक्र गीता - भाव पद्यानुवाद (अठारहवीं कड़ी)

                                        नवम अध्याय (९.१-९.४)
                                            (with English connotation)
अष्टावक्र कहते हैं :
Ashtavakra says :

क्या करना है उचित या वर्जित, शांत हुए कब द्वंद्व हैं किसके|
त्यागवान, विरक्त बन जाओ, संशय रहित ज्ञान यह करके||(९.१)

The confusion between what should be done or
should not be done, has never been satisfied.
Knowing this, be indifferent or ascetic.(9.1)

देख चेष्टाएँ लोगों की जग में, विरले धन्य पुरुष वह होते|
ज्ञान, भोग और जीने की इच्छा, इन सबसे हैं मुक्त वे होते||(९.२)

O son! Rare and blessed are those, who observing
the useless efforts of the people to satisfy their lust
for life, luxuries and knowledge, are free from these.(9.2)

यह अनित्य व सारहीन है, दूषित तीनों तापों से यह मानो|
निंदनीय व त्याग योग्य है, शांति है मिलती जब यह जानो||(९.३)

All this is temporary and contaminated by three
types of pain. Knowing that it is without essence,
ignoble and unacceptable, one attains peace.(9.3)

कौन है ऐसा समय उम्र या, मनुज न जब संशय में रहता|
विस्मृत करता जो यह संशय, वह सिद्धि को प्राप्त है करता||(९.४)

When was that time or age, when man did not
have any doubt or confusion. So renouncing your
doubts, attain happiness and peace.(9.4)

अष्टावक्र गीता - भाव पद्यानुवाद (सत्रहवीं कड़ी)

                                       अष्टम अध्याय (८.१-८.४)
                                            (with English connotation)
अष्टावक्र कहते हैं :
Ashtavakra says :

जब मन कुछ इच्छा करता है, त्याग, ग्रहण, शोक करता है|
कभी प्रसन्न या क्रोधित है होता, तब वह बंधन में रहता है||(८.१)

There is bondage when the mind desires some
thing, rejects something, receives something,
grieves about something, rejoices at something
or is displeased at something.(8.1)

कोई इच्छा न जागे मन में, शोक, त्याग, ग्रहण न करता|
न प्रसन्न, न क्रोध ही जगता, तब वह बंधन मुक्त है रहता||(८.२)

When mind does not desire anything, does not
grieve about anything, neither accepts nor
discards anything, neither happiness nor anger
arises in him, then he is free from bondage.(8.2)

आसक्त दृष्टिमान वस्तु में रहता, तब मन बंधन में होता है|
आसक्तिहीन हो जाता जब मन, मुक्त है बंधन से होता है||(८.३)

The mind is in bondage when it is attached to
any visible thing. When the mind is not attached
to anything, it becomes free from bondage.(8.3)

जब तक ‘मैं’ है तब तक बंधन, ‘मैं’ से मुक्ति मोक्ष है मानो|
ग्रहण करो या न कुछ त्यागो, ज्ञान है जब इसको तुम जानो||(८.४)

The freedom from Í’ and ‘me’ is liberation and
the existence of Í’and ‘me’ is bondage. Considering
this, you need not hold or sacrifice anything.(8.4)

अष्टावक्र गीता - भाव पद्यानुवाद (सोलहवीं कड़ी)

                                       सप्तम अध्याय (७.१-७.५)
                                            (with English connotation)
राजा जनक कहते हैं :
King Janak says :

मेरे अनंत आत्म सागर में, समस्त विश्व एक नौका सम होता|
स्व-मन वायु से भ्रमित है नौका, पर मेरा मन क्षुब्ध न होता||(७.१)

In the infinite ocean of my Self, the entire world is
like a boat, which wanders here and there driven
by its own wind. But this does not disturb me.(7.1)

मेरी आत्मा के अनंत सागर में, उदित विश्व रूप लहरें हैं होती|
लेकिन लहरों के उठने गिरने से, मुझमें वृद्धि न क्षति है होती||(७.२)

Though the world rises like waves in the infinite
ocean of my Self, yet due to this rise and fall of
waves, my Self does not lose or gain anything.(7.2)

मेरे अनंत आत्म सागर में, जगत समस्त कल्पना भर है|
निराकार अति शांत रूप मैं, केवल आत्मा पर निर्भर है||(७.३)

In the infinite ocean of my Self, the world is like
imagination or dream. I am supremely peaceful
and formless and I am nothing but Self.(7.3)

उस अनंत निर्द्वंद्व के मन में, ‘मैं’ या अन्य भाव न होता| 
निस्पृह, शांत, असंग भाव से, आत्मा में स्थिति है होता||(७.४)

In that infinite and spotless state, there is no
feeling of I or of any other object. In that
un-attached, desireless and peaceful state
he exists in Self.(7.4)

आश्चर्य मैं चैतन्य मात्र हूँ, और जगत इंद्रजाल के जैसा|
अच्छे और बुरे का चिंतन, मुझमें कहाँ और हो कैसा||(७.५)

It is surprising that I am pure consciousness
and this world is like a magic. How and where
the thought of good or bad may exist in me.(7.5)

अष्टावक्र गीता - भाव पद्यानुवाद (पंद्रहवीं कड़ी)

                                          षष्ठ अध्याय (६.१-६.४)
                                            (with English connotation)
अष्टावक्र कहते हैं :
Ashtavakra says :

मैं अनंत आकाश के सम हूँ, प्रकृतिजन्य यह जग है घटवत |
ग्रहण त्याग करना न इसका, बस होना है इस से समरस||(६.१)

I am infinite like space and this world is like a
jar. Knowing this, you need not renounce or
accept this world, but be one with it.(6.1)

मैं हूँ सागर के जैसा, लहरों के समान है जो जग दिखता|
एक रूप होना बस इससे, इसे ग्रहण या त्याग न बनता||(६.२)

I am like the ocean and this visible world is
like waves. Knowing this, there is nothing to
renounce or accept, but be one with it.(6.2)

जैसे रजत सीप में कल्पित, वैसे ही यह विश्व है मुझमें|
इसका ग्रहण त्याग न करना, एक रूप हो जाओ इसमें||(६.३)

This entire world is imagined in me, just like
silver in the sea-shell. Knowing this, there is
nothing to renounce or accept, but be one
with it.(6.3)

मैं समस्त प्राणी जन में हूँ, जैसे होते सब प्राणी जन मुझमें|
ग्रहण त्याग न करो ज्ञान यह, हो जाओ समरूप है इसमें||(६.४)

I am in all beings and all beings are in me. 
Knowing this, there is nothing to renounce 
or accept, but be one with it.(6.4)

अष्टावक्र गीता - भाव पद्यानुवाद (चौदहवीं कड़ी)

                                        पंचम अध्याय (५.१-५.४)
                                            (with English connotation)
अष्टावक्र कहते हैं :
Ashtavakra says :

शुद्ध स्वरुप, न सम्बन्ध किसी से, त्याग चाहते करना क्या तुम|
अहंकार देह का तज कर, अपने स्वरुप से तादात्म्य करो तुम||(५.१)

You are pure and not attached to anything, then
what is there to renounce for you. Forgetting your
connection with unreal world, be one with your Self.(5.1)

उत्पन्न बुलबुले ज्यों सागर से, वैसे ही संसार उदित है तुझसे|
मन लय जब हो जाता आत्मा से, सर्व विश्व लय होता तुझसे||(५.२)

As the bubbles arise in the sea, similarly this world
originates from your Self. Knowing this, you
become one with your Self.(5.2)

शुद्ध रूप तुम में इस जग का, सर्प रज्जु सम अस्तित्व न कोई|
एकाकार हो तुम स्व-आत्मा से, जग का है अस्तित्व न कोई||(५.३)

This world visible to your eyes is un-real and
insubstantial. You are pure and this world does not
exist in you, like the snake imagined in the rope.
Knowing this, you be one with your Self.(5.3)

पूर्ण व सम सुख दुःख में जानो, जीवन मृत्यु में भी सम हो|
आशा और निराशा में हो सम, एकाकार आत्म से तुम हो||(५.४)

Equal in pleasure and pain, equal in life and death,
and equal in hope and disappointment, you are
complete and, therefore, be one with Self.(5.4)

अष्टावक्र गीता - भाव पद्यानुवाद (तेरहवीं कड़ी)

                                        चतुर्थ अध्याय (४.१-४.६)
                                            (with English connotation)
अष्टावक्र कहते हैं :
Ashtavakr says :

आत्म तत्व को जो जन जाने, जग के भोगों को खेल समझता|
जग के भोगों में लिप्त मूढ़ से, उस ज्ञानी जन की क्या समता||(४.१)

The wise man, who knows Self, understands the
enjoyment of the world as sport and he cannot be
compared to the deluded person who is bearing
the burden of the world.(4.1)

जिस पद को पाने की इच्छा में, इन्द्रादि देव दीन बन जाते|
उस पद पर स्थित हो कर भी, ज्ञानी जन न किंचित हर्षाते||(४.२)

Even after achieving the state, which Indra etc.
yearn for, the wise man does not feel any joy.(4.2)

आत्म तत्व का ज्ञान जो रखता, पाप पुण्य से उसका क्या नाता|
धूम्र दिखाई देता नभ में सबको, उसका कब है आकाश से नाता||(४.३)

The wise man knowing Self remains unattached with
good or evil, just like smoke visible in the sky but
not a part of the sky.(4.3)

यह सब विश्व आत्मा उसकी, है जान गया जो ज्ञानी इसको|
वर्त्तमान में स्व-इच्छा से, रहने से कौन रोक सकता उसको||(४.४)

Who can prevent from living in present as per his
wishes to the wise man, who has perceived the
whole world as part of his Self.(4.4)

चतुर्वर्ग के सब प्राणी जन में, और ब्रह्म से तृण तक सृष्टि में|
त्याग की इच्छा और अनिच्छा, है केवल आत्मा के ज्ञानी में||(४.५)

From Brahma to the grass and among all four
categories of beings, the only person who knows
Self can be devoid of desire or aversion.(4.5)

अद्वैत है आत्मा ईश्वर जग की, जान है पाता इसको कोई|
और जान लेता है जो यह, रहता उसे न फिर भय कोई||(४.६)

Rare is the person who knows the Self as One
and Master of the world, and who knows this
is not afraid of anything in the world.(4.6)

अष्टावक्र गीता - भाव पद्यानुवाद (बारहवीं कड़ी)

                                      तृतीय अध्याय (३.११-३.१४)
                                             (with English connotation)
ज्ञानी धीर पुरुष इस जग को, केवल माया रूप समझता|
निकट मृत्यु के आने पर भी, कैसे वह उससे डर सकता||(३.११)

How the learned person with strong mind, who
knows this world as illusion and has no interest 
in it, may be afraid of death on its arrival.(3.11)

इच्छा रहित निराशा में भी, जिस ज्ञानी का मन है रहता|
आत्म ज्ञान से तृप्त जो जन है, उसके तुल्य कौन हो सकता||(३.१२)

Who can be compared with that learned person,
who does not have any desire even in despondency
and is satisfied in the knowledge of self.(3.12)

जो कुछ दृश्यमान है होता, उसका कुछ अस्तित्व न होता|
धीर पुरुष को इस कारण से कुछ भी त्याज्य ग्राह्य न होता||(३.१३)

Whatever is visible to the eyes is not real and
has no existence. Therefore, to the person of
resolute mind there is nothing to be obtained
or rejected.(3.13)

मुक्त विषय वासनाओं से, आशा द्वंद्व रहित जो होता|
दैवयोग से प्राप्त वस्तु से, उसको हर्ष न शोक है होता||(३.१४)

The person, who is free from all passions,
desires and doubts, does not feel pleasure or
pain by the events which come of its own.(3.14)
